Luton Town Gameweek 7 Hatters

Essential reading before your weekly waiver requests process!

Waiver Wire Gameweek 7

Here we outline our Fantasy EPL Waiver Wire Gameweek 7 targets that have 40% rostered or below on Fantrax. These players should perform well over the upcoming period!

Zeki Amdouni (Ros 12%)

Prospects: Burnley are one of two teams that have a DGW this weekend. The Clarets have yet to register their first win of the season, but it's fair to say that they've had a brutal start to the season. They've faced champions Man City (H), Aston Villa (H), Spurs (H), Nott'm Forest (A), and Man Utd (H). So there's no surprise that they've only gained 1 point in the table. However, their upcoming fixtures could not be more polar opposite: Newcastle (A) and Luton (A). Two somewhat tough trips, but it's the second game that has potential for Zeki to help Burnley get their first win of the season. The Swiss FWD has started all 5 games for Burnley so far, and scored a key goal in the draw vs. Forest. If you believe in Amdouni's ability to score versus relegation rivals Luton Town, then I would gamble on some attacking returns, especially since Lyle Foster is banned for their first fixture. Amdouni leads the team in shots (9) and has more FPts than players like Richarlison, Gakpo, Jesus, and Kai Havertz!

Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 1-2 FAAB to get him.

Chiedozie Ogbene (Ros 1%)

Prospects: Luton Town are one of three teams that amassed only one point for the season. They keep company with the two other promoted clubs, but have the opportunity to get their first win of the season with two decent fixtures: Everton (A) and Burnley (H). If the Hatters are to avoid relegation this season, their home form will be key. Although Luton have scored the fewest goals this season, there is potential for things to improve as facing Burnley at home is currently rated as the best fixture for all FWDs in DGW7, as per our Fixture Difficulty Tracker which can be found in our Fantasy Toolkit. So enter Irish FWD Chiedozie Ogbene. Nicknamed Chieo, the Nigerian-born FWD is currently clocked as the second fastest player in the Premier League since the 20/21 season. Ogbene finally had his first start for the club vs Wolves in GW6, having played 90 mins, created 1 big chance, generated an xA of 0.42, including 4 KPs, which was only bettered by Doughty. The signs are promising and could pay off with a punt.

Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 1-2 FAB to get him.

Aaron Ramsey (Ros 1%)

Prospects: Ramsey definitely had one of the best signing videos this season, especially if you're a Barbie fan. However, that's not why you should waiver him! Aaron, brother of Villa's Jacob Ramsey, finally started his first game of the season and had a promising performance. The MID registered 9 ghost points, which comprised of 1 KP, 1 SoT, 3 TkW, 1 CLR, 1 CoS and 2 AER. It should also be noted his key pass was in fact a big chance with a xA of 0.43. There's always a gamble that Ramsey only sees 1 start in DGW7 but the potential upside is there, especially with the away fixture to Luton Town, which is currently the 4th easiest fixture for all MIDs, according to our Fixture Difficulty Tracker.

Verdict: I would use a low waiver pick or 0-1 FAAB to get him.

Alfie Doughty (Ros 48%)

Prospects: The English MID, who plays as a wingback for Luton Town, was one of the more popular draft day prospects as a mid round pick. That being said, Doughty didn't start Luton's first two games, and frustrated owners were quick to ditch him as his counterpart, Giles, seemed to have displaced him. However, the tables have turned and Alfie seems to have found his place back in the starting line-up again. Doughty tends to rack up ghost points when he starts, having scored 7 and 16 FPts in his two starts. Although minutes are a concern, DGW 7 is a good opportunity to roll out the Hatter's leading creator (6 KP) and 3rd best scoring Hatters asset (25.5 FPts). Even if Doughty only starts one of the two fixtures, he will surely get some off the bench minutes in the other one. In his last fixture versus Wolves (H), Doughty racked up the most KPs (5) for the gameweek, tied with Robertson and Trippier. If Barkley is out again this weekend, expect Doughty to command set-pieces increasing his ceiling.

Verdict: I would use a mid-tier waiver pick or 5-8 FAAB to get him.

Marvelous Nakamba (Ros 7%)

Prospects: The ex-Villa MID is back in the Premier League with Luton Town after helping them secure promotion last season, while on loan. Now officially a Hatter, the Zimbabwean MID is slowly starting to rack up ghost points but from a defensive perspective. Nakamba is currently tied 2nd for TkW (14) among all outfielders, keeping company with the likes of João Gomes, Yves Bissouma, and Christian Norgaard. If you need a MID to play every minute of DGW 7, Nakamba is that player. He is one of two players who have played every minute of every game for Luton Town. In his last 3 games, Nakamba has averaged 7.83 ghost points per game, which makes him a competitive asset as a one week punt. Defensive midfielders tend to do well in double gameweeks, as they have a very good chance of getting you double digits across their two games. Did I mention that he's also the Hatter's 2nd highest scoring asset with 30 FPts? Simply Marvelous.

Verdict: I would use a low waiver pick or 1-3 FAAB to get him.
