We'll be focusing on players that will bring us not only attacking returns or clean sheets, but also those players that score Ghost Points in the sophisticated and statistics based Fantrax Scoring System!

Fantasy EPL Gameweek 27 Sleepers XI

For this article, we use the percentage rostered calculation from Fantrax and Sleeper. Our only rule is that each player we highlight is rostered in 60% of leagues or fewer at the time of writing. Therefore, there's a good chance some of these players will be free agents in your Draft league! As always, we'll take form, fixtures, projected points, and a healthy dose of intuition into account to make our selections.

The Sleepers XI table below includes a full team of Starters, as well as 5 Reserves - high-upside players with some question marks around whether or not they'll start in Gameweek 27. So keep an eye out when lineups are announced and pick them up if you see them starting, especially if you need to fill a spot on your roster. Read below for the rationale behind each of the Starter selections.

Guglielmo Vicario (G, Spurs)

According to our fixture difficulty tracker, Spurs have the 6th best rated fixture for all goalkeepers in GW27. If you're like me and have been struggling to pick a reliable goalkeeper for the past few gameweeks by punting on assets such as Jorgensen or Alex Palmer, Vicario could be your set-and-forget solution for the rest of the season. Although it's a very tough fixture against Man City, the Champions have been struggling for consistent form in the league and things could be getting worse given their big man up top Haaland missed their last fixture due to a knee injury. Even with Spurs getting their main starters fit again, they continue to be a team that concedes loads of chances based on their style of play, so Vicario should be racking up saves in any match, just as we saw against Ipswich in GW26 where he scored 9 FPts, making 4 saves and conceding once.

Harry Maguire (D, Man United)

If we were to make a league table based on the last 10 games, Manchester United would currently sit 17th. However, they are hosting Ipswich Town, who would be sat 18th in that same table. Ipswich Town currently have scored the 2nd fewest goals (24) in the league and have not won any of their last 4 away games. This bodes well for any Man Utd defender, especially one that ghosts well. Maguire's 7.8 gPPS is the 2nd best of all the Red Devils DEFs and he's even got goal threat from set pieces. If you need a DEF-3/4, Maguire is an easy start.

Levi Colwill (D, Chelsea)

Chelsea have been in diabolical form ever since Maresca ruled his Blues out of the title race. It also didn't help that key players such as Lavia and Nico Jackson got injured as they're quite vital to the style of football that Maresca has implemented. That being said, Colwill has actually been one of the stand out performers from the Blues backline. His 7.5 gPP90 is the best of all Chelsea defenders and in GW27 they will be hosting the worst team in the league. Southampton have scored the fewest goals (19) of the campaign so far, so there's a good chance for a clean sheet for Colwill and his teammates. A solid DEF-3 punt.

Max Kilman (D, West Ham)

Since Graham Potter's first league game in charge, the Hammers have won twice, drawn once and lost 3 games. Although the results don't seem very positive, West Ham definitely have become more and more solid at the back and look a harder team to score against. This was evident in their most recent game and win over the Gunners as Potter and his team earned their first clean sheet of the season. In GW27, West Ham host Leicester, one of the worst teams in the leagues at the moment. The Foxes have only scored 3 goals in their last 8 games and things don't seem to be improving at all during Ruud's reign. Of those that are most likely available in your league, Kilman seems to be the pick of the bunch. His 8.5 gPPS is second of all West Ham DEFs, so if you're looking for a DEF-2/3, Kilman is the best option possible, especially with this game looking like one of the easiest possible gambles for a clean sheet.

Oliver Scarles (D, West Ham)

At only 19 years of age and after 7 appearances off the bench, Scarles was finally given his first start in the league. Emerson missed out due to injury, so the young English defender was thrown into the deep end and was started as West Ham's left wingback against the Gunners in GW26. What a performance too! Scarles ended up scoring 17.25 FPts, the second highest of all West Ham assets. What is even more impressive about this feat is the fact that were was no attacking returns in his output, not even a single key pass. The bulk of his points came from 4 tackles won and 7 interceptions. If Emerson is still ruled out due to injury, we quite fancy the punt against Leicester, especially given how badly they are struggling in front of goal. However, since it is the only game on Thursday, you might need to have a back up plan in case Scarles is randomly benched.

Patrick Dorgu (D, Man Utd)

Dorgu must be wondering why he decided to join Man Utd as they were absolutely shambolic during the first half of their match against Everton in GW26. However, the Red Devils rallied after the break and managed to claw back their 2-0 deficit and earn a priceless draw. Although the points don't back it up, Dorgu did get into very attacking positions and looks like he could offer some attacking upside. Even in his first league start, he was able to get a shot against Spurs. Given the Red Devils are hosting Ipswich during GW27, there's a very good chance that Dorgu could get returns on either ends of the pitch. A great cover pick if you're up against a Maguire owner.

James Ward-Prowse (M, West Ham)

After an unsuccessful half-of-a-season loan with Nottingham forest, JWP returned home to West Ham. JWP might have finally found a starting spot with Potter at the helm. In his first appearance since his return to the Hammers, he came on as a sub during half-time in the 1-0 loss to Brentford but seemed to have an immediate impact as he took 7 of their 9 corners. As one of the best deadball specialists in the league over the past few seasons, this will be music to any managers ears. JWP was then rewarded with his first start under Potter in the 1-0 win over Arsenal and scored 10.75 ghost points, without taking a single corner. If JWP is well and truly back as an asset, he's easily a MID-3 for any team but approach with caution as his starts are probably safer due to Paqueta being out injured.

Marshall Munetsi (M, Wolves)

After Wolves' regular No. 9 Strand Larsen picked up a hamstring injury, Vitor Pereira tried playing Guedes up top but that immediately became a very short lived experiment, given how wasteful the Portuguese FWD was in front of goal. So enter Munetsi. He came on as a half-time sub in the game versus Liverpool and seemed to fit perfectly in the role. He even missed a big chance versus Liverpool! So it came as no surprise to see him start in the game versus Bournemouth where he assisted Cunha's winning goal and put up 16.5 FPts. Although Strand Larsen is fit again and came on as a sub versus Bournemouth, Munetsi still played the full match. If Munetsi starts up top again, he should be a no brainer start in your matchup, but if he is deployed in midfield, you might want to approach this punt with a bit more caution.

Mikel Merino (M, Arsenal)

It's crazy to think that an Arsenal asset that is starting every gameweek is still so lowly owned across leagues. It appears that after Mikel Arteta's impromptu experiment of playing Merino as Arsenal's No. 9, it has now become the permanent solution moving forward. Although Arsenal didn't score against West Ham, Merino still played the full match and put up 7.25 ghost points. When considering all the fit attacking players that Arsenal have available to them, only Nwaneri has a better PPS than the 10 points that Merino has been averaging so far this season. Even with the title race seemingly over at the moment, until it's actually confirmed that Liverpool are winners, Arsenal will continue to fight to win every game and we expect that Merino is most likely to be involved in any goals that they score.

Marco Asensio (F, Aston Villa)

After a somewhat successful double gameweek for Asensio, Emery gave the Spaniard his 2nd start in the league and he immediately repaid him by scoring both goals against Chelsea and putting up 10.25 ghost points as well. Based on the eye test alone, Asensio seems to fit perfectly into Emery's system and already seems to have a connection with a resurgent Rashford, a player who has actually assisted the last 3 goals for Aston Villa. Asensio is easily a FWD-2/3 at the moment, especially since reliable FWDs are extremely scarce in leagues these days.

Beto (F, Everton)

Beto is currently one of the hottest strikers in the league at the moment and he's showing no signs of slowing down. The Portuguese FWD, who was playing as backup to DCL, now seems to be the main man and has now scored 5 goals in his last 4 starts. Although this run of form seems unsustainable, rumours of Norgaard being out injured for Brentford feels like they could be light defensively, which could ultimately benefit Everton and their attacking players. Even if Beto was to blank, he has been averaging 10-12 gPPS over his last 4 starts, which would still make him an obvious FWD-2/3 option for your roster.
