Waiver Wire Gameweek 25

Here we outline our Fantasy EPL Waiver Wire Gameweek 25 targets that have 40% rostered or below on Fantrax. These players should perform well over the upcoming period!

Jacob Ramsey (Ros 36%)

Prospects: Aston Villa are 1 of 2 teams with a double gameweek in GW25 and probably the easier team to acquire assets from since the other doubling team is league leaders Liverpool. There have been a few chops and changes in the Aston Villa lineup in recent matches due to a combination of injuries and transfer exits such as Duran but it's not as bad as it seems for the Villans. One beneficiary has been Jacob Ramsey. The young English MID hasn't had a great season to date, especially given the lack of consistent starts in the league. However Ramsey has now started 4 games in a row in the league, something that has not happened since GW8. In fact, across all competitions, Ramsey's last 4 starts have seen him register 2 goals and 2 assists, with his most recent return coming in the FA Cup win over Spurs. Although Emery has added to his arsenal with the likes of Asensio, Rashford and Malen, we're still expecting Ramsey to start at least one game and add to his recent rich vein of form, especially against Ipswich as anything against Liverpool would merely be a bonus.

Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 1-2 FAB to get him.

Mathys Tel (Ros 0%)

Prospects: One of hottest young prospects in European football has somehow found his way at Tottenham Hotspur. It's a bit surprising given the rumours of how much convincing Tel needed to join the North London club. Alas, he made his bed and now has to lie in it. What a bed too. Since his move to England, he came on as a sub in a 4-0 loss to Liverpool in the 2nd leg of their EFL cup tie and then started his first game against Villa in a 2-1 loss in the FA Cup. Not the best start to his loan move. Hopes are still high for him though, as he did manage to score against Aston Villa. Tel is expected to be one of the main sources of attacking returns given the likes of Brennan Johnson, Solanke and Richarlison all being out with mid to long term injuries. Although Tel has barely had any attacking returns this season for either Bayern Munich or Spurs, it's his 9 goals and 6 assists in 1170 minutes during the 2023/24 season that really catches the eye. Tel really should start more games than not, even with the likes of club captain Son seeming to be past his prime and not being able to last the full 90 minutes in most games. Ange will hope his new addition hits the ground running as Spurs aim to salvage what's left of their season and avoid getting dragged into a relegation race.

Verdict: I would use a mid-tier waiver pick or 4-6 FAB to get him.

Donyell Malen (Ros 38%)

Prospects: Malen is just one of the many new faces at Aston Villa after the January transfer window closed. That being said, he is only 1 of 2 permanent signings, since the likes of Asensio and Rashford were both loan moves. Not saying this is the basis for Malen getting starts ahead of the others, but you would think it plays a role. Malen's starts probably depends on the fitness of Ollie Watkins, but you'd think in a double gameweek, he should get at least 100 minutes across both fixtures. Malen has only featured in 2 league games so far, both being sub appearances off the bench. In both appearances combined, he's managed to score 7 FPts over 69 minutes, which also included 3 shots and all of them being on target. Solid returns from the Dutchman. Although Malen has only started once for Aston Villa, during their 2-1 win in the FA cup against Spurs, he still attempted 3 shots and had 1 key pass which is a good test for the league. Given the number of competitions Aston Villa are still in, Malen could soon be starting in the league so I would definitely try to roster him. Ipswich is a great warm-up game for him to get up to the speed of the league and he could easily slot in as a FWD-2 in any roster.

Verdict:  I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 3-5 FAB to get him.
