Updated: May 20, 2022

Getting your team selection correct in Draft Premier League is just as essential as your pre-season draft or your weekly waiver wire claims. And this is why we’re here to help with our Gameweek 37 Start and Sit article! We're here to talk you through some of the big Fantasy EPL decisions you may need to make for the upcoming fixtures.

This article dovetails particularly well with the Fantrax Weekly Rankings submitted on Fantrax HQ every week! Go check it out, we're the Official Content Providers for Fantrax HQ!

Gameweek 37 Start and Sit

Whether you’re an obsessed EPL fan like our Draft Society team, or a casual player new to the world of Fantasy EPL, you know to start your attacking players against relegation threatened sides. We’re not going to waste your time dealing with the obvious! The goal of this article is to delve into notable players across each Fantrax position and let you know if you should be starting or sitting those particular players.

For our Gameweek 37 Start and Sit candidates, we’re going to highlight one player in detail for each section, as well as suggesting another alternate. Let us get to it!

Defender Starts

Wesley Fofana vs. CHE

Leicester managed a clean sheet in their incredible FA cup win over Chelsea on Saturday. Some managers may be thinking that Chelsea will surely score at least a goal if not more this time around. Personally, I can see Leicester keeping another clean sheet, and Fofana racking up a lot of defensive stats. In recent weeks Fofana has been very inconsistent, but should see a double digit performance this week with or without a clean sheet.

Alternate:

Nat Phillips vs. BUR

Craig Dawson vs. WBA

Kieran Tierney vs. CRY

Defender Sits

Kyle Walker-Peters vs. LEE

Walker-Peters managed a double digit score with an attacking return last game, but I highly recommend simply dropping him to your FA pool. The Saints right back does not score many ghost points, and could see a negative score against a Leeds team that will surely score at least a goal. Leeds are vulnerable from set plays, but Walker-Peters offers no threat in that sense. There should be better defenders available on your wire to start this week than Walker-Peters.

Alternate:

Toby Alderweireld vs. AVL

Dan Burn vs. MCI

Ben Mee vs. LIV

Midfielder Starts

Gylfi Sigurdsson vs. WOL

Sigurdsson found himself on the bench in the loss to Sheffield United, but will probably come back into the XI against Wolves. Even with both James and Digne on the field, Sigurdsson saw his fair share of set pieces after coming on at half time. He could easily get an attacking return against an inconsistent Wolves team. I would not start Sigurdsson unless he starts though, if he is on the bench he can be considered droppable at this stage of the season.

Alternates:

Marc Albrighton vs. CHE

John Fleck vs. NEW

Andros Townsend vs. ARS

Midfielder Sits

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg vs. AVL

Hojbjerg is coming off his best fantasy game of the season with a goal and an assist vs. Wolves. I fully expect Hojbjerg to return to his single digit scoring, and given less license to go forward especially if Grealish gets the nod for the away side. Hojbjerg usually has a floor of 3-7 points and that should be how he scores this week.

Alternate:

Jarrod Bowen vs. WBA

John McGinn vs. TOT

Mateusz Klich vs. SOU

Forward Starts

Alexandre Lacazette vs. CRY

I would be very surprised to see Arsenal’s top EPL scorer not start this fixture. Lacazette has struggled with injury the last month, and hasn’t found his way back to the XI just yet. If he does get the nod this gameweek, he has a chance at 20+ score. The Palace defence has been very inconsistent in recent weeks, and I would be shocked if Arsenal score less than 2 goals this game.

Alternates

Che Adams vs. LEE

Rodrigo vs. SOU

Forward Sits

Ademola Lookman vs. MUN

Lookman didn’t start In the defeat to Southampton, but should see a start vs. Manchester United. I wouldn't start Lookman in this fixture, where Fulham will struggle for possession. Usually he scores quite poorly against the big clubs, and sharing set pieces with Cavaleiro only decreases his potential value in this fixture. Lookman has had a decent season so far, but I expect the United full-backs to keep him in check.

Alternate:

Timo Werner vs. LEI

Kelechi Iheanacho vs. CHE
