We ain’t afraid of no ghosts. In fact, we seek them – ghost points, that is. Ghost Points are fantasy points that do not come from attacking returns or clean sheets. These can come in the form of key passes, shots on target, successful dribbles, interceptions, and tackles, among others. Identifying these points is essential for your Fantasy EPL prospects, and our Gameweek 11 Ghost Point Hunters article is here to help!
This Ghost Point Hunters article is based on the Fantrax Scoring System. Check out our Ghost Point Tracker page for the full list of Fantasy EPL players and their respective Ghost Point capabilities!
Gameweek 11 Ghost Point Hunters
In the immortal words of Dr. Ian Malcolm: "Life finds a way." In this case, life finds a way to screw with the schedules of not one but 2 TDS staff, who incidentally are the Ghost Point Hunting team. Ryan is currently REDACTED visiting REDACTED to REDACTED, which is a great challenge but also must be a lot of fun. I (Tottiandor), on the other hand, have been "Underwood"-ing in my real job (without the assassination dressed as suicide) to try to keep my real job afloat. Anyways, for this reason, this week's GPH will be a little light on the narrative front, but hopefully full of useful info.
Pascal Struijk
Position: Defender
Team: Leeds
Rostered: 75%
Ghost Points Per Start: 10.6
Ghost Points Last GW: 14.0
Prospects: Leeds have a difficult run from now to the WC break, but Struijk is currently the top ghosting defender in all the land and there is no reason to doubt his ability to keep this up.
Verdict: As much as I think he will be able to continue ghosting, Leeds as a whole have not looked that good and, as mentioned, are entering a tougher set of fixtures. I would see if there is a market for trading him out, especially in a package for a top level player: Think Zaha + Struijk for Foden or Odegaard + Struijk for Son.
Mason Mount
Position: Midfielder
Team: Chelsea
Rostered: 100%
Ghost Points Per Start: 7.5
Ghost Points Last GW: 14.0
Prospects: Managers may come and go, but Mount is a constant fixture and focal point in the Chelsea lineup. It is Potter's turn to put his trust in the boy wonder and it looks like it is finally starting to click for him.
Verdict: The window to trade for Mount on a low has been firmly shut. But you can still get value by reiterating that he's really only had one good game and it was against lowly Wolves at home (and it is likely an aberration). If you can get him in below his draft day value from rosterers who have not been convinced by his recent uptick, I would still do that, offering the likes of Bernardo Silva, Odegaard, Harrison, or Bruno F to get him.
Wout Faes
Position: Defender
Team: Leicester
Rostered: 9%
Ghost Points Per Start: 9.7
Ghost Points Last GW: 15.25
Prospects: The big man has ghosted out of his mind in 2 out of 3 starts. I talked him up in my Waiver Wire article and will do so again here. Leicester's soft schedule will get him double digits even without clean sheets, and who knows, they might luck into one or two cleanies in this upcoming run.
Verdict: He is available in most leagues as he is only 9% rostered (not available in any of mine, obviously), and I would highly recommend picking him up. He could well turn out to be the best FA pickup for the month of October.
Dr. Peter Venkman Award:
Bernardo Silva (Man City MID; 0.5 ghosts): An uncharacteristically quiet night from Silva was capped by a 0.5 ghost score that, this time around, was not propped up by an attacking return. You expect more from your City attacker, especially in a 4-0 win. He is currently averaging 6.7 ghosts per start, which is more than a point under last season's average. He looks to be return-dependent this season, but I wouldn't necessarily look to trade him out. The fact that he has been used and is featuring a lot on the right wing adds to his attacking potential. Managers who roster him have to deal with the fact that he is not ghosting as much and is reliant upon getting a fair amount of returns.
