Spurs Best Fantasy Players
As noted above, these are the Best Tottenham Players for the Fantrax Fantasy EPL platform. We analyze Spurs' top three prospects ahead of the new season, with a recommended draft pick for each player.
Son Heung-Min
Position: Forward
21/22 Points: 582 (1st best forward)
21/22 Points Per Start: 16.6 (35 starts)
22/23 Projected Points Per Start: 17.1 (34 starts)
Recommended Draft Pick: 1-4 (12 Team League: 1st Round)
Overview: Son is coming off both his best fantasy year and best goal scoring season in a Spurs shirt. He was already doing well during Spur's early season struggles, but Conte turned him into a different kind of beast. Son was able to tie Salah for the golden boot with 23 goals, including none from the penalty spot. Son will be one of Conte's go to guys this season as well, and shouldn't see many rests unless he is injured, or late in season if Spurs need to prioritize European games. Son has a near monopoly on corners and free kicks which only helps his floor, averaging 9 gpts per start. If you have the #1 overall pick, an argument could be made for Son over Salah, and I personally would be very tempted to go with Son given the lack of quality depth Spurs have, their form under Conte, and him only growing in confidence year after year. He also has a very good injury record having played in 30+ EPL games in every season for the past 6 seasons.
Son has every chance to be the #1 overall player this year, especially since he will get a full preseason with Conte and a few new signings seem to be on the way including wing back Ivan Perisic and defensive midfielder Yves Bissouma. Son is probably just ahead of his teammate Harry Kane in my upcoming rankings.
Harry Kane
Position: Forward
21/22 Points: 503 (3rd best forward)
21/22 Points Per Start: 13.9 (36 starts)
22/23 Projected Points Per Start: 15.4 (34 starts)
Recommended Draft Pick: 1-6 (12 Team League: Round 1)
Overview: Harry Kane had a horrible start to the season, not scoring his first goal until October 17, but ended the campaign with 17 goals. He had a great turnaround once Conte arrived scoring double digit points in 4 of his last 5 games of the season. With Kane there is always a chance he contends for the golden boot, and always a chance he misses a chunk of the season with an injury. The fear this year is the minutes he will log, of course as a regular for Conte, but in a World Cup year as well, where we all know Southgate will run his captain into the ground. It is something to be mindful of if you draft Kane in round 1, it is worth following up with a safer FWD2/FWD3.
Kane will always have the upside and potential to be the top fantasy scorer. He is on an attacking team, on penalties, and a lot of Spurs success will come from the form of him and Son. While Kane comes with his own bag of risks he is definitely worth looking at in the first 6 picks. Even if you are pick #1 overall there is a case to draft Harry Kane.
Dejan Kulusevski
Position: Midfielder
21/22 Points: 222.5 (43rd best midfielder)
21/22 Points Per Start: 14.2 (14 starts)
22/23 Projected Points Per Start: 14.4 (27 starts)
Recommended Draft Pick: 16-24 (12 Team League: Mid-Late 2nd Round)
Overview: Kulusevski exceeded all expectations in his first season for Spurs. He won a spot in the front 3 over Lucas Moura, and proved week in and out why he was starting. In just 14 starts he managed 5 goals and 8 assists, and will go into the coming season as a starting attacker in one of the most dangerous attacks in the EPL. Kulusevski is classified as a midfielder but is playing in a "forward" role. He is definitely worth a pick in the 2nd or 3rd round, and I am even okay taking him as early as pick 13. With Champions League confirmed, Kulusevski risks a bit more rotation with out of favour man Lucas Moura, but I still expect him to get the bulk of starts in the EPL. The same goes for new signing, Richarlison, who some believe will still Deki Kulu's job but in truth has not played off the right very often recently.
Kulusevski has MID1 upside and will be taken in the 2nd round in most leagues. He could prove to be an absolute steal at 14.2 PPS, if he manages to come close to this production over the entire 22/23 campaign.
Honorable Mention(s):
It is hard to find an honorable mention here, with the bulk of fantasy points going to these 3 attackers. Whoever locks down the RWB spot for Spurs is definitely one for consideration, as of now it looks like it will be Matt Doherty, and he should be taken in the 6-8th rounds. Perisic is also another one to consider given he should start in the LWB slot, but is classified as a midfielder, I would look to draft him in similar rounds as Doherty.
Richarlison at Spurs is an interesting case. I personally do not see him locking down a starting role anytime soon, unless there is an injury but expect him to still get significant minutes, being used as a substitute, and starting UCL and cup games. With the 5 sub rule, Richarlison will see the majority of his minutes from the bench, but could be worth a punt if he falls to you after round 7.
