Bournemouth Best Fantasy Players

As noted above, these are the Best Bournemouth Players for the Fantrax Fantasy EPL platform. We analyze the Cherries' top two prospects ahead of the new season, with a recommended draft pick for each player.

Dom Solanke

Position: Forward

21/22 Points: 573* (in the Championship)

21/22 Points Per Start: 12.6 (46 starts)

22/23 Projected Points Per Start: 7.6 (35 starts)

Recommended Draft Pick: 100 or later (12 Team League: Round 8 or later)

Overview: After years of struggling, Solanke has finally had his breakout in the Championship last season. Bournemouth are taking the "trust the players who got us here" approach to their 22/23 EPL season, so Solanke will remain the main man. Do not expect Pukki 19/20 numbers, but he could do a job against lowly opposition.

From Chelsea academy graduate through being snapped up by Liverpool and sold for a fortune and struggling at Bournemouth, to his breakout season in 21/22, Solanke has a long and winding road behind him as he looks to establish himself and keep his team in the Premier League. His impressive attacking output last season—which resulted in 29 goals and 7 assists—is nothing to scoff at, but definitely has to be taken with a pinch of salt as most big betting agencies have Bournemouth as the prime candidate for relegation. If the last few seasons are anything to go by, teams who spend most of their time in the bottom three rarely put up great attacking numbers. Solanke's 19/20 numbers paint a sad picture as well, as he only managed 3G/1A in 17 starts in the Premier League.

The lack of lower-ranked forwards on the draft board, however, make him a player worth punting on in the later rounds if you need to fill your bench. Unfortunately, the gods of fixture-making were not kind to the Cherries, as Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City all in the first 4 games means that only fantasy teams with the longest benches will be able to hold Bournemouth assets for the first month of the season. A possibly easier fixture against Villa on the first weekend could make you consider Big Dom as a one week punt, if you like betting on the fact that a relatively unchanged team that had no pre-season interruptions will have the upper hand against a Villa side incorporating multiple new signings. It is worth looking for Cherries assets after GW4 though, as the fixtures ease up considerably, with WOL, NOT, BHA, NEW all featuring in the following few games.

Even with the impressive season in 21/22, Solanke only managed to score 6.2 ghost points per 90 and had a GACS dependency of 53%, so even when (if) Bournemouth hit a hot streak, he will only help your team if he gets attacking returns.

Phillip Billing

Position: Midfielder

21/22 Points: 411* (in the Championship)

21/22 Points Per Start: 11.2 (37 starts)

22/23 Projected Points Per Start: 8 (32 starts)

Recommended Draft Pick: 125 or later (12 Team League: Round 10 or later)

Overview: Successfully converted from a defensive mid to an all rounder under Parker, Billing enjoyed his best season in the promotion campaign. Whether that will be enough to make him fantasy relevant is still very much up in the air, but long time Fantasy managers should expect more from him than any previous occasions rostering the Dane

Just like Solanke's impressive haul mentioned above, Billing's 10 goals and 10 assists look great on paper but will definitely not translate into such impressive output among the big boys. It is, however, a great indication of the new role Billing has taken on, which should give some hope to the managers who decide to roster him. As mentioned above, the early fixtures are not looking great for the Cherries, but Billing has a much more impressive ghost point per 90 from last season (7.5) than to ignore him all together. As a player guaranteed to start most games, who has a decent ghost point floor and a good chance of an attacking return, he will surely feature in many of our waiver wire and sleeper articles during the season.

Honorable Mention(s):

Ryan Fredericks has come in to take the right back spot bring EPL experience as well as a lot of attacking potential from the wings. After the horrible early fixtures, he is worth a pickup in games the Cherries have a good chance to compete in.
